Trust our bodies and innate wisdom of birth.
Hello, my name is Ruth Nuñez! I am a mother of three sweet girls, a doula, and midwife student. After having my own intense birth and postpartum experiences with my first two; I searched more into doula care for expecting families. This led me to pursue a career in birth work to help families to have a positive experiences in welcoming their children into the world. This is my true calling - in fact, this fall 2024 I had helped close to 200 families from all walks of life welcome their babies and have since helped many more! After being a doula for over 6 years, I finally had my empowering home birth experience with my third child with a midwife and doula at my side. I find so much fulfillment in helping bring new life in the world that I am now continuing my education in midwifery while I expand my doula practice.
"If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use one."

I searched and found a great organization called Wombs of The World, which I'm now part of, where they go to different countries to learn from amazing midwives and birth work in rural places. I knew this is what I wanted to do as there is such a rich knowledge in birth work all over the world that is being forgotten or replaced by Western medicine.
My first trip was to Ecuador, where I visited a small village in Cotacatchi where I met amazing midwives. I learned there about womb healing, plant medicine for woman's heath through all aspects of live but especially pregnancy and postpartum, and belly binding in ceremonial closing of the bones. As well as learning how respected and sacred birth and woman are viewed.
The latest trip I took was to Karatu, Tanzania where I got to visit two amazing birth clinics. This was challenging in many aspects as I have never supported mothers where we didn't speak at least one of the same languages and also being limited in the supplies and space. I went to hopefully make a positive impact to all moms in need in regardless of their culture, backgrounds, and adapting and respecting their traditions as I believe everyone deserves a doula.
